For instance, Streptococcus pneumoniae forms alpha hemolysis, Streptococcus pyogenes forms beta hemolysis, and Enterococcus faecalis displays nonhemolysis (or gamma hemolysis) on blood agar plates.
Synonym: gamma hemolysis
