Addiction
(Science: psychiatry) pattern of compulsive drug use characterised by a continued craving for an opioid and the need to use the opioid for effects other than pain relief. (psychological dependence).
The state of being given up to some habit, especially strong dependence on a drug.
Being abnormally tolerant to and dependent on something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming (especially alcohol or narcotic drugs).
