Antisense strand

noun, plural: antisense strands
Strand of DNA running from 3′ to 5′ complementing the sense strand, and is not transcribed into mRNA
The antisense strand of DNA is not the strand used to make mRNA but the sense strand. However, since the antisense strand complements the sense strand, the former would have the same nucleotide sequence as that of the mRNA following transcription.
