Its cells appear to be vacuolated with fermentable carbohydrates and in cultured media show convex, circular, entire, grey, translucent, smooth and shiny colonies with a molecular mass of 105kDa.
Bacteroides caccae isolated from human feces that is associated with inflammatory bowel diseases of a healthy individual. It has the capability to stimulate the gut lining to produce fucosylated glycans and stir up the formation of blood vessels in the angiogenesis of the newborn epithelium enhancing uptake of nutrients. It is susceptible in to various beta-lactam agents, metronidazole and clindamycin.
