An unusually large degenerated cell with pale-staining vacuolated or reticulated cytoplasm, as in viral hepatitis or in degenerated epidermal cells in herpes zoster, a large form of nevus cell with abundant nonstaining cytoplasm, formed by vacular degeneration of melanosomes.
