Countries or nations with an average income that is relatively lower than in highly industrialized countries, and are in the process of change toward economic growth. They are comparatively lower than the developed countries in terms of health care, literacy, and per capita income.

Developing countries are those countries largely located in the south; hence, they are collectively called the South. The term is used in contrast to the developed countries located on the north, hence are collectively called as such.
Developing countries are all those nations not considered as developed. They have also at times been called underdeveloped nations.
