Elution volume

Definition
noun
(1) The volume of the eluent or buffering agent that elutes from the column of a chromatograph before a particular peak in the elution profile appears (meaning before a particular substance of interest comes out with the eluent or buffer).
(2) The volume of solvent eluting from the column over the period, from the time of the sample injection to the time when the maximum concentration per unit time is eluting from the column.
