Definition
noun, plural: greenhouses
A structure, room or building made up of glass or plastics (e.g. polyethylene) where temperature, humidity and spectral frequencies are regulated or maintained within a desired range, particularly used for cultivating plants.
Supplement
Greenhouse is especially built to grow plants that are sensitive or out of season. It is also used for holding plants over cold seasons.
The building is made of glass (or plastic) that works by allowing and trapping incoming solar radiation while preventing convection. This increases the internal surface temperature that favourably warms the plants and soil inside the building.
