Synonym: rose mallow.
Origin: oe. Holihoc; holi holy – hoc mallow, as. Hoc; cf. W. Hocys mallows, hocys bendigaid hollyhock, lit, blessed mallow. Prob. So named because brought from the holy land. See holy.
