A gram-negative non-motile coccobacillus and highly opportunistic aerobic bacterium involved in Bovine Keratoconjunctivitis.

Moraxella bovis has a size of about 0.6-1.0 micrometer in diameter that lacks flagella and used colonial structures to adapt different environmental changes like spreading-corroding and non-corroding morphologies in which colony shape, parental cells, thickness and dispersion varied relative to the speed of growth. It also utilized glucose as energy.
Moraxella bovis is normally transmitted to humans via infected milk as well as via aerosols but in develop countries used pasteurization which kills most of the bacteria in milk and infected cattle immediately culled. It is also associated in Bovine Keratoconjunctivitis characterized by inflammation and ulceration of conjunctiva and excessive tearing as well as ocular rupturing in extreme cases. It able to proliferates in the presence of oxygen and ultra violet rays from the sun flourishing on the surface of cattle eyes.
