The fine fibres providing structural support in the retina of many vertebrates. The fibres are radial in fashion while spanning through the thickness of the retina, i.e. from the internal limiting membrane to the external limiting membrane.

The fibers form a dense, continuous meshwork that support the different layers of nervous elements in the retina.
Word origin: after Heinrich Müller, a German anatomist, who first described it in 1851
