Nasogastric aspiration

An aspiration technique in which the gastric contents are removed or drained using a nasogastric tube that runs through the nose, past the throat, and down to the stomach.
Supplement
It is commonly used to drain contents of the stomach, such as gastric secretions and accidental ingestion of toxic liquids. It is also used to prepare the patient to surgery under anesthesia and to obtain sample for analysis.
