Palpebral commissure

Definition
noun, plural: palpebral commissures
The site where the upper and lower eyelids join, as at the corners of the eye.
Supplement
Palpebral commissure may be lateral or medial. The lateral palpebral commissure (or the commisura palpebrarum lateralis) is situated away from the midplane of the face. The eyelids here lie in close contact with the bulb of the eye. The medial palpebral commissure (or the commisura palpebrarum medialis) is situated near the midplane of the face. In here, the two eyelids are separated by a triangular space, the lacus lacrimalis.
Word origin: Latin palpebralis (of or pertaining to the eyelids) + Latin commissūra, from commissus (to join).
