Rubulavirus

rubulavirus
A genus of the family paramyxoviridae (subfamily paramyxovirinae) where all the species have haemagglutinin and neuraminidase activities but lack a c protein. Mumps virus is the type species.
The virus is spread through direct contact with saliva or respratory secretions, and through formites. It only hosts in humans, and the humman is contagious 3 days before and 9 days after symptoms apear (range 6-12).
Symptoms
fever, headache, muscle aches, tiredness, and loss of appetite; followed by swelling of salivary glands. The parotid salivary glands (which are located within your cheek, near your jaw line, below your ears) are most frequently affected.
