Tanager

Tanager refers to the bird species that generally have bright-colored plumage and belonging to the genera, Tanagra and Piranga. Examples are P. erythromelas (commonly known as the scarlet tanager and P. rubra (known as summer redbird). Tanagers belong to the family Thraupidae, order Passeriformes. They are the second largest bird family, comprising 4% of all bird species.
