(1) (anatomy) An outer covering of the body or of a bodily organ; an integument.
(2) (parasitology) Host-parasite interface.
(3) (virology) viral tegument: a cluster of proteins that aid in viral DNA replication and evasion of the immune response, located at the space between the cell membrane and nucleocapsid of many enveloped viruses.
