Tepal

Tepals are undifferentiated parts of the perianth of the flower. They are mostly the same shape, colour and size. They replace petals and sepals but perform the same role – advertisement.
Tepals are characteristic mostly for flowers produced by primitive families as magnoliaceae or polygonaceae, although they occur in highly developed and specialised families as well.
