Any tissue comprised of a network of closely woven small fibres adhering together as bundles in animals and plants
In vertebrate animals, fibrous tissues occur as two major types:

  • white fibrous tissue or white fibre – for example: ligaments and tendons
  • yellow fibrous tissue or yellow fiber – for example: elastic fibers
