A compound comprised of molecules linked through chemical bonds arranged in such a way that the distribution of charges are symmetrical

Nonpolar compounds do not exhibit polarity. They will also not convert into ions in a solution. Because of these features of nonpolar compounds they will not readily dissolve in water, which is a polar molecule.
