An oxidoreductase enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of phenols and other related substances.
Supplement
This enzyme is found in many plants, fungi and microorganisms. It catalyzes the oxidation of certain molecules such as tyrosine. The action of this enzyme is evident in fruit browning when fruits such as apples, bananas, potatoes are cut or bruised.
