Apocarpous gynoecium

Apocarpous gynoecium is comprised by the set of many simple pistils (consistig of only one carpel). Characteristic fruit for simple pistils is called a follicle.
Such phenomenon can be observed in primitive families as Magnoliaceae or Ranunculaceae.
