A linker DNAs is a stretch of DNA linking a nucleosome core with another (similar to a “beads and string” model). Nucleosomes, in turn, are packed together to form a chromatin fiber.
Since linker DNAs are not complexed to proteins they are readily removed through exonuclease hydrolysis.
